We would like to start by welcoming all the newcomers to our Challenge. We are excited to have you join the Opti-FAMILY. And of course, to all the familiar names on the list, welcome back. We are glad that you decided to join us again this year. Thank you all for your dedication and willingness to give up your time. We are sure that the students are very grateful, and we hope that you all enjoy the Opti-EXPERIENCE.
We would like to give a very big thank you to John Paul College who were willing to host two regions this year. Both Brisbane South and Brisbane West Regionals will be held there. We are looking forward to working with the John Paul College team to provide you with an excellent Challenge Day.
Long-Term Challenges will be held in separate areas for each region. Spontaneous will be run from the same building for both regions, to help maintain security. Everything else will be run in the same place for both regions.
The Presentation Ceremony will be presented by both regions together, but the awards will still be kept separate. A map of the grounds should be uploaded by this weekend. We will confirm the timetables by this Friday.
Registration has been improved, so it shouldn’t take as long as last year. However, as Registration and the Merchandise Store will be run from the same place, teams should only need to worry about registering at least a half hour before their first performance. All team members need to be there when registering the teams.
The day would never happen if it weren’t for the volunteers who come and judge the performances. There are several judges required and your nominated judge goes a long way to ensuring all rooms are covered. This year, Denver Lacey has kindly accepted the role of Judges Coordinator. He has been doing a wonderful job and it has helped ease our stress levels. Some of the nominated judges have sadly not responded to his emails requesting confirmation. Can you please ask and ensure that your judges respond to him ASAP?
When sending letters home to parents, please ensure you have a meeting place sorted. The campus is far too big with far too many people there on the day, for any of us to be able to find a parent or team who have no idea where each other may be. Please ensure that parents are fully aware that they MAY NOT access the Spontaneous area. Failure to adhere to this will incur a penalty for the associated team, which we would prefer to avoid. This is for the team members only and must not be talked about until all judging has ceased. However, we love and encourage parents to come and watch their child’s team perform in the Long Term.
Please make sure you have accessed the team suite forms. These must be supplied to the judges on the day.
That’s all for now. Every time we update this page we will note the date and time at the top. This will help you to keep track of whether you need to look through it all again.

Some of the university students still need to be added to this list.
A special thanks to Denver for coordinating the judges this year. Should you need to contact him, you can send him an email at email@example.com
NB If you nominated to be a judge, but can not see your name, please check Brisbane South’s page. Because we are sharing a venue and a judges coordinator, you may appear on their list instead. If you can’t see yourself on either list, please contact Denver.
